Welcome To Transit

MCCT is a door to door, advanced registration program that services all persons of Mercer County. Transit is funded by state and federal grants and the Mercer Co. Area Agency on Aging, Inc. Discounted service is available to Senior Citizens age 60 or older and qualified disabled residents.

Our days and hours of service are:
Monday through Friday
Shenango Valley Area:
6 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Outside Shenango Valley:
8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Fares & Passes

The fare is based on the length and type of trip. Reduced and free fare fares are available for persons whose age or health entitles them to a subsidy. Each stop is considered one trip. All fares are to be paid with exact change upon entering the bus or transit passes may be used. Transit passes and Multi-ride shuttle passes are available upon request from drivers and senior centers or by contacting Transit’s Administrative Offices.

Fare Subsidies

You may be eligible to have the fare for your trip subsidized for one of the following:

Senior Citizens – If you are age 60 and older, you are eligible to ride for 50¢ per trip, thanks to reduced fare subsidies from the Pennsylvania Lottery and/or the MC Area Agency on Aging, Inc.

Persons with Disabilities – If you are under the age of 60, have any disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), have proof of your disability from a physician or agency and have completed the appropriate registration form, you may be eligible for a reduced fare subsidy from the Shenango Valley Shuttle Service’s ADA Program and/or MCCT’s Persons with Disabilities Transportation Program.
Medical Assistance Transportation Program – If you qualify for medical assistance through the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, you may be eligible for free transportation service through MATP which is managed by the MC Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (724) 662-6222.

Escorts & Aides

Door to door assistance is provided by drivers. They will help you on and off of the bus and with any packages you may have. As a result of safety and insurance concerns, drivers are not permitted inside homes and businesses. Passengers using wheelchairs may be assisted by one escort. Escorts are required to pay the same fare as the client that they are escorting. The escort will be expected to push the wheelchair from door to door. Our drivers will escort clients on and off of the vehicles at all times.

Reservations & Scheduling

Advanced registration is required for each one-way trip on MCCT and no unscheduled trips may be added the day of service. All Transit trips must be scheduled by 2:00 p.m. of the working day before your trip. Trips may be scheduled up to one month in advance.

Special Needs

Lift equipped vehicles are available for persons with disabilities. Please inform the Administrative Office if you require the lift or if you will be using a wheelchair. A ramp that conforms to ADA regulations is required at pick up and drop off points, when drivers are assisting wheelchairs.

No Show Policy

Transit requires that you notify them of any cancelled trips at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled pick up time. If you fail to inform MCCT, you will be considered a “No-Show”. If there is a third occurrence within a six month period, you will lose eligibility for three months. In addition, for each “No-Show” occurrence, you may be charged one-half of the full fare for the missed trip.

Scheduled Holidays

Service is not provided on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas.

If you have lost something, we will do our best to help you find it. Lost items can be claimed at our Administrative Office, where they will be kept for up to 30 days. For assistance in locating your missing article call (724)981-6222 or (800)222-8797.
